Establishment of the Child Life Club
The Child Life Club started as a suggestion by Dr. Julie Maschhoff, former director of the Graduate Child Life Program, made to Spring 2011 Graduate Assistant Rebecca Holtzman. The idea was to create a student organization that would allow Child Life Graduate students and FCS Undergraduate students to participate in Child Life activities and fellowship to promote the field of Child Life.
Rebecca Holtzman approached the 2012 Child Life Graduate cohort in order to establish a Registered Student Organization. During Spring 2011 this cohort of Child Life Graduate students created a Constitution, established the first Executive Board, and began planning for the first Child Life Club meeting. The first Child Life Club executive board was Rebecca (Becca) Holtzman, President; Sarah O'Neal, Vice President; Stacy Robillard, Treasurer; Rebecca Gerecke, Secretary; Katie Niziolek; Fundraiser Chair; and Meghan Wilson, Membership Recruitment and Fellowship Chair. The Child Life Club became a Registered Student Organization at Illinois State University in March 2011 and the first Child Life Club meeting was held in September 2011.
